Pricing Models I’m Studying
I don’t want to guess how mee.contact should make money.
Not from vibes. Not from “everyone does freemium.” From looking at how the people already in this category actually charge—then deciding what fits my product after beta teaches me something.
Three different machines
Blinq runs freemium software. Free forever for a couple of cards. Premium for individuals (~$9.99/mo, cheaper annual). Business per card/seat for teams. Enterprise custom. They’re selling polished share + branding + team control.
Popl has a consumer-looking free tier and paid Pro / Pro+ for individuals—and a much louder B2B story. Teams pricing shows up in reviews; event lead capture is often quote-only on their site. The money leans sales/GTM and badge-scan pipelines, not “remember who you met at the mixer.”
Dot sells the object. NFC card, band, metal—one-time purchase, profile free for life with the device. Profile+ is the optional subscription (~$144/yr) for analytics, exports, branding. Hardware is the P&L. App Store is incomplete if that’s all you look at.
Three machines. Same rough category. Different who-pays.
A more in-depth look at competitor pricing models
Below is a more in-depth look at the competition.
my analysis: revenue models are typically the same.
monthly plan ~$10
yearly plan ~$120
but they all UPSELL, a feature or membership that has value.
AI business scanner = reduces manual entry.
Branding of digital card = helps marketing and differentiating from competitors.
Analytics = helps you understand engagement of a particular event.
What I’m not claiming
I don’t have a public price… yet. I won’t invent one in this journal to sound done.
Beta first. Feedback first. Then pick freemium vs subscription vs something quieter—when I know what people actually use.

Recap
I’m Luciano Huapaya. I’m building mee.contact in public—an app to automate the contact exchange so you can stay present when you meet people.
Personas for what you share.
Connections for who you meet.
Events for where you met them.
Not on the App Store yet. This is the journal of getting there.
